Ricardo has been teaching English since 2017, and his passion for education continues to grow each year. He still recalls the happiness and fulfilment he felt when he first stepped into the classroom—a feeling that has only deepened with time. For Ricardo, the most rewarding part of teaching lies in guiding students as they develop their own ideas, arguments and writing skills with clarity and confidence.

With an academic background in both Philosophy and English Literature, Ricardo specialises in close reading and textual analysis. He has supported students in honing their critical thinking, enabling them to move beyond surface-level interpretations—an essential skill for success in both VCE and IB English. His teaching encourages students to challenge ideas, think independently and cultivate a distinct voice and writing style.

A lover of the arts, Ricardo is deeply engaged with world literature, music and cinema. He is especially passionate about classic and global literary traditions, drawing inspiration from thinkers and writers such as Homer, Plato, Laozi, Cervantes, Shakespeare, Borges and Cărtărescu. This diverse literary foundation shapes his teaching approach, through which he fosters in his students a cosmopolitan, reflective and globally conscious perspective.
